Hello from my couch! Not something I say very often, but after having a medical procedure done last week and not resting as much as I needed to, I am spending Sunday watching golf and football. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share some great reads/posts/podcasts from this past week and what is on my reading docket coming up.
First, Dana Santos posted an incredible article today on Yoga and Baseball. I love that it addresses how important it is to understand how the athlete is actually achieving the positions they are in. The body is so great at compensating and sometimes forcing yoga poses or assuming that the sole purpose of it is to gain flexibility can lead to injury. Definitely worth a read!
I just discovered the Push, Pull, Legs Podcast with Dan Meek and Tom Hail this week. It is seriously entertaining but also filled with great information. They had one of my favorite strength coaches, Tony Gentilcore, on to talk assessments. This will definitely become a regular podcast for me now!
As I wrote a little about on Tuesday, my personal reading list has “Talking as Fast as I Can” by Lauren Graham on it. I love the Gilmore Girls, I just can’t help myself from continuously binge watching it. So if you love Lauren Graham, read her latest and also pick up her first novel “Someday, Someday, Maybe”.
The book I am most excited about right now is “The Mindside Manifesto” by Dr. Bhrett McCabe. My copy arrives tomorrow and I will be buried in it all week. Dr. McCabe has an incredible podcast as well called The Mindside. He has a episode from very early on called “You Are Your Own Worst Enemy”. I listen to it a lot, mostly because it’s like getting punched in the face, but in a good way if that makes sense. Sometimes you need someone to call you out and force you into getting outside your comfort zone. He is one of the best at doing this!
And finally, if you’re not watching the end of the Career Builder Challenge right now, drop everything and turn the TV on. This is one of the best finishes we have seen in a long time and one of my favorite players Adam Hadwin is right in the mix after his incredible 59 yesterday.
Hope you all had a great weekend, see you tomorrow for Monday Rehab featuring the Glute Bridge!
