Saturday Tabatas

Holy soreness Batman! Iļø can’t believe how sore my glutes are from my Friday workout!

Instead of using that as an excuse to not do anything today, Iļø used it as an opportunity to work on my cardiovascular conditioning. Tabatas are a great way to challenge the heart and flush out that wonderful soreness. A Tabata is a style of interval training where you push hard for 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds and repeat 8 times. Take a 1 Minute break, then repeat again. The beauty is that you really don’t need any equipment because any exercise performed at max effort will get the job done. Here are a few examples:

  • Skater steps
  • Sprints
  • Kicking
  • Punches
  • Heel clicks
  • High knees
  • Jumping jacks
  • Modified Burpees

Today Iļø did 4 sets of tabatas and was dripping in sweat, plus my body felt way better! And to make the timer situation easier, check your App Store for tabata timers!
