I feel like I spend 90% of my work day talking about butts. How to activate them, strengthen them, their role in the golf swing and why every exercise is in desperate need of them. My go to Glute activating exercise has been from a Tall Kneeling stance for the last few years, but this week I found a different way to fire them up that I am loving!
Here is the set up:
Pretty simple, set up the legs at a 90 degree angle and make sure your lower back is touching the floor just enough to feel some engagement from the abs.
Here is the plan:
Let’s say you start with your left foot on the ground. You are going to start pushing that foot, primarily the heel as hard as you can down into the ground and away from you. As you do this, slowly raise the other leg to 90 degrees like the picture above. Hold this for a count of 10 while you push your foot down and away. Because the way you are pushing the foot is initiating what would become hip extension, the Glute will magically engage!!
Give this a try after your warm up but before any lifting and let me know how it goes!
